Prerna graduated from University of Otago School of Medicine in 2009 completing her initial medical training in Dunedin and Invercargill. She began her career in Paediatrics in Starship Hospital in Auckland and is currently working as a Paediatrician in the public sector for the paediatric service at Middlemore Hospital Kidzfirst. Prerna has done further training through the University of Melbourne to upskill in the provision of Autism and ADHD assessments for children. She has a wide range of interests in the fields of both general and neurodevelopmental paediatrics. Prior to training in medicine Prerna qualified as a pharmacist and brings this unique knowledge to her practice.

Prerna is passionate about pacific health and health equity, and she does volunteer pro bono work in the pacific region. She is an active member of the Paediatric Society of New Zealand and the Pasifika Medical Association. As a parent herself she brings caring concern and wholistic care on board when assessing your child and supporting your family in your treatment journey.
