Jake Morton-Jones, Paediatric Dietitian
I started my career as a Paediatric Dietitian at Counties Manukau Health, working across both community and outpatient settings. I then transitioned to Starship Children’s Hospital to take up a position as a Senior Dietitian, covering a wide range of medical and surgical wards and the Intensive Care Unit. In addition to my clinical practice, I have led service design and research projects within the public system, focusing on improving health outcomes for children, mothers and their wider family in the space of Diabetes in Pregnancy.
My approach to nutrition management is family focused. I centre my practice around meeting family goals and optimising health through what we eat. Food is often our first go-to when we want to improve our families health and well-being. My passion for nutrition aims to inspire positive relationships with food while supporting children and their families to meet their nutritional needs.
Outside of work, my wife and I are both foodies at heart. While she prefers to cook, I am often found in the kitchen baking, experimenting with sourdough, fermenting vegetables or brewing beer. Outside of the kitchen, I’m found in the garden, fishing, running, or on a road trip visiting various family members spread across New Zealand.
